Why Start Another Church?

Greensboro doesn’t need another church! Right?

We may have heard this before and even said it ourselves in the past. However, after sensing God's call to plant a new church, we discovered an alarming need for starting Fearless Love.

Here are three (3) reasons that define our purpose for planting Fearless Love Church in Greensboro, NC.

1) Serve Greensboro, NC’s 51% non-religious population

As of 2021, 51% of Greensboro's population claims no religious affiliation. The city's population is growing at a rate of eight people per day, or 240 people per month. The average church size in America is around 70 people, which means it would take 41 churches just to reach the new residents. In short, the ratio of churches to citizens is too large. Contrary to some beliefs, we actually need more churches to accommodate the number of people open to joining the body of Christ.

He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38 NLT

2) Make new disciples of Jesus Christ

Before Christ left the earth, he instructed his disciples to make new disciples. This process of multiplication would ensure that God's love is delivered authentically to all mankind. Research shows that new churches are typically more effective than established congregations at making new disciples, as established churches tend to draw transfers from other congregations. Therefore, establishing a new church would help create an environment that is primed for making new disciples.

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 NLT

3) Demonstrate God’s love in word and deed

Love has always been the mission. If we fail to love one another, we demonstrate a lack of love for God. It's a difficult truth, but one that we are dedicated to upholding. That's why it's crucial to prioritize service - both spiritually and practically - to our communities.

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. John 13:34-35 NLT

Join us as we embark on this mission to spread God's love and create a community of confident and compassionate believers.
